Policies and Procedures
Homework will be given Monday through Thursday. Your child will need some guidance, but their work should be their own. Math facts should be practiced on a daily basis. Students enjoy using the Reflex online program. It is very important to know these math facts to be successful in second grade and beyond. If you see that your child is having some difficulty, please jot me a note.
Each night your child will be expected to read a book for a specific amount of time. During the first trimester, 15 minutes is assigned. As the year progresses, so will their reading staminas. A reading log will be sent home to be filled out and then returned back to school. Please check your child's folder each night for important information.
Attendance: Students should be in the classroom by 8:50 each morning or they are marked late. If your child is absent, on the day they return they must have a note stating the date and reason they were absent.
Dismissal: If your child's regular dismissal routine is being changed, you must send in a note. Without a note they will be dismissed as usual.
Money: When money is needed to be sent in, please make sure it is placed in a sealed envelope. On the envelope, please mark your child's name, the amount enclosed, and its purpose ( picture money, lunch, trip, book order, book fair, etc.) This will save time, and ensure no money is lost.
Birthday Treats: If you would like to send in a small treat to celebrate your child's birthday, please note that there are 15 students in our class. We are a peanut-free classroom.
Communication: Email is the best way to reach me. My line of communication is always open. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I do my best to check email periodically throughout the day, however, some days are very busy. I always check email before I leave for the day.
