Hi! My name is Ms. Emily Weeks and I am the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for Springfield Township Elementary. This will be my first year working at Springfield.

    The Beginning:

A question that is quite common in the field of Speech-Language Pathology is: Why did you enter this field? In high school I shadowed a school-based SLP and watched her as she worked magic throughout the day. On that day I realized the joys of helping students become confident communicators. I quickly fell in love with the field and the idea that I would be able to help children express themselves as individuals, grow in confidence on their educational journey, and learn through play and experiences. I love working in the school-based setting where collaboration with parents, classroom teachers, instructional assisants, OTs and PTs is encouraged and helps our students to grow in all areas.

I graduated from Ithaca College in upstate NY with a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. I continued my education at La Salle University in Philadelphia, PA where I obtained my Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology. This past year I worked on the Eastern Shore of Maryland serving a public K-8 school, but am overjoyed to be back in my home state!  This summer I received my Speech-Language Specialist license in the state of New Jersey as well as my Certificate of Clinicial Competence from the American Speech and Language Hearing Association.

    Fun Facts:

I am the oldest of four children. I met my sweetheart Andrew while working at a movie theater in South Jersey together in high school, and together we have a Siberian Husky named Loki. I am a big nerd who loves all things Star Wars, Disney and Marvel and love to spend my free time reading, going on outdoor adventures, visiting local farmer's markets, spending time with our families in South Jersey and of course going to the local movie theater!

I am looking forward to serving our students at Springfield Elementary this school year :)
